Animal Instincts is a 1992 American erotic thriller drama directed by Gregory Dark. The film features actors Maxwell Caulfield, Shannon Whirry, Jan-Michael Vincent, and David Carradine. This film led to two sequels: Animal Instincts 2 (1994) and Animal Instincts 3, also known as Animal Instincts: The Seductress.
The story follows Joanna, played by Whirry, who is married to David Cole (Caulfield), a police officer. Their relationship is strained due to David’s sexual impotence, which limits their intimacy. Frustrated, Joanna begins an affair with a cable repairman. When David catches them, he reacts unexpectedly by initiating a passionate encounter with Joanna. This leads to the couple exploring voyeurism, where Joanna engages in multiple affairs while David secretly records them. However, their adventures take a dark turn when a local mob learns about their activities. Their leader, played by Carradine, blackmails them into filming an encounter with a corrupt politician portrayed by Vincent.
