Classified is an upcoming American action thriller set to be released on 22 October 2024. The film is directed by Roel Reiné and written by Bob DeRosa. It stars notable actors including Aaron Eckhart, Tim Roth, and Abigail Breslin.
The plot follows a veteran CIA agent who uncovers a shocking truth about his past. After his daughter, an MI6 analyst, tracks him down, she reveals that his boss has been dead for years. Together, they embark on a journey to uncover who has been giving him orders all along.
Filming for Classified took place in Malta during April 2023, and the project wrapped up in May 2023. However, the production faced controversy when Breslin reported that working with Eckhart was difficult, claiming he exhibited aggressive behavior on set. This led to her filing a complaint with SAG-AFTRA, while the filmmakers have initiated a lawsuit against her.
Despite the star power of the cast, early reviews for Classified have been largely negative. Critics have pointed out issues with the film's dialogue and overall execution. For instance, Mary Kassel from Screen Rant rated it a mere 3 out of 10, while Mark Keizer from MovieWeb gave it 2 out of 5. Leslie Felperin from The Guardian echoed these sentiments, describing the film as “shonky” with “shockingly bad” dialogue.
