Distant is an upcoming American science fiction film directed by Josh Gordon and Will Speck. The story follows Andy, an asteroid miner whose spaceship is damaged, causing him to crash-land on an alien planet. Filming for Distant began on 21 September 2020, in Budapest, Hungary, with safety protocols in place due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The production team ensured extensive sanitization measures, face masks, and social distancing were observed throughout the filming process. The shoot wrapped up on 13 November 2020, and post-production continued into 2021.
The film first premiered in Vietnam on 12 July 2024, but an American release date has yet to be announced. Universal Pictures previously planned to release the film on several different dates but has since removed it from its schedule. Although the release plans have changed multiple times, the anticipation for Distant continues to grow as fans await its arrival.
