If you fall asleep you die.
Blind is a Hindi-language crime thriller film from India that was released on 7 July 2023. Directed by Shome Makhija, the movie is a remake of the 2011 Korean film of the same name. The film features Sonam Kapoor in the lead role, alongside Purab Kohli, Vinay Pathak, and Lillete Dubey in supporting roles.
The plot follows Gia Singh, a blind police officer who finds herself in a dangerous situation while trying to uncover the truth behind a series of kidnappings. During a stormy night, Gia is picked up by a stranger in a private car instead of a taxi. Unbeknownst to her, the driver is a kidnapper with a sinister agenda. As more women go missing, Gia's instincts lead her to suspect that something is very wrong, but her warnings are initially dismissed by the police.
Detective Prithvi is assigned to the case and quickly discovers that these kidnappings are part of a larger, more chilling scheme. With Gia’s help, he delves deeper into the mystery, uncovering dark secrets and confronting the mastermind behind the abductions. The collaboration between Gia and Prithvi forms the heart of the film, as they navigate a treacherous path to bring the criminal to justice.
The principal photography of Blind began on 28 December 2020 in Glasgow, Scotland, and was completed on 13 February 2021. The film is produced by a group of notable producers, including Sujoy Ghosh and Avishek Ghosh, among others. The film's music is composed by Clinton Cerejo and Brianca Gomes.
Although the film had high expectations, it has received unfavorable reviews from critics and audiences alike. Many have noted it as the last film appearance of Sonam Kapoor before she takes a temporary break from acting.
Despite its shortcomings, Blind attempts to engage viewers with its gripping narrative centered around suspense and the fight for justice. The film's unique premise, combined with the performances of its cast, makes it a noteworthy addition to the genre of crime thrillers in Indian cinema.
