Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning is an upcoming American action and spy film directed by Christopher McQuarrie. It serves as the sequel to Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One, and is the eighth film in the Mission: Impossible series. The film is set to be released in the United States on 23 May 2025, distributed by Paramount Pictures.
The film features a star-studded cast, including Tom Cruise, Hayley Atwell, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Vanessa Kirby, Esai Morales, Pom Klementieff, Angela Bassett, and Henry Czerny, all reprising their roles from the previous films.
Filming for The Final Reckoning started in March 2022 across various locations, including the United Kingdom, Malta, and South Africa. Production faced delays due to the SAG-AFTRA strike, with filming resuming in March 2024 and wrapping up in November 2024. The film had an estimated budget of $400 million, making it one of the most expensive films ever made.
In January 2019, Tom Cruise announced that both the seventh and eighth films in the series would be filmed back-to-back, with McQuarrie returning as writer and director. However, plans shifted in February 2021 when it was revealed that the two films would no longer be shot at the same time. The film's original title, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two, was changed to The Final Reckoning in November 2024.
