No Way Up is a new survival thriller movie set to captivate audiences in 2024. Directed by Claudio Fäh and written by Andy Mason, this film features a talented cast that includes Sophie McIntosh, Will Attenborough, Jeremias Amoore, Manuel Pacific, Grace Nettle, Phyllis Logan, and Colm Meaney.
The film had its theatrical debut in Russia on 18 January 2024, followed by releases in the United Kingdom on 12 February 2024, and in the United States on 16 February 2024.
The plot of No Way Up revolves around a catastrophic plane crash on a Vista Airlines flight from LAX to Los Cabos. After the plane collides with birds and crashes into the Pacific Ocean, only a handful of passengers survive. These include Ava, who is the daughter of a well-known politician; her boyfriend Jed; Jed's friend Kyle; a young girl named Rosa accompanied by her grandmother; Ava's bodyguard Brandon; and flight attendant Danilo. They find themselves trapped in an air pocket at the back of the submerged plane.
Initially, Brandon takes the lead and insists they stay put and wait for rescue. However, as the situation worsens, he attempts to retrieve an oxygen tank from the front of the plane. Tragically, he is attacked by a tiger shark and is pulled underwater. Meanwhile, Kyle suffers a serious arm injury, requiring treatment from Rosa's grandmother, Mardy “Nana,” a former army nurse.
As tensions rise among the survivors, they realize they have limited time before the plane's structure collapses. They must make a critical decision: stay in the sinking wreck or swim to the surface. With a plan in place, they look for diving gear to help them escape. However, their attempts are met with danger as a rescue crew arrives, only to face the same shark.
The survivors must confront their fears and injuries, with brutal consequences. As they make their way out, they face horrific attacks, and sacrifices are made. The film builds suspense as Ava, determined to survive, fights against the odds, ultimately managing to escape as the wreckage slips into the dark depths.
Ava's journey continues on the ocean's surface, where she faces uncertainty, surrounded by nothing but water. Despite the crushing loss, a rescue helicopter arrives just in time, leading to a bittersweet reunion with some survivors.
