Prey

Prey is an upcoming American action thriller that will hit theaters on 15 March 2024. Directed and written by Mukunda Michael Dewil, the film stars Ryan Phillippe and Emile Hirsch, alongside a talented cast that includes Dylan Flashner, Tristan Thompson, Jeremy Tardy, Michaela Sasner, and Mena Suvari.

The movie follows a young couple, Andrew and Sue, who must leave their Christian missionary station in the Kalahari Desert after facing deadly threats from a militant group. They say goodbye to their community and head to a remote airport where a small plane awaits. Though they initially face difficulties boarding, they eventually convince the pilot, Grun, to let them on, albeit without their belongings.

During their flight, turbulence causes the plane to crash, killing one of the passengers. While the other survivors emerge unscathed, Sue becomes trapped under a seat. As they try to free her, Grun determines they have crashed in a dangerous wildlife reserve. Stranded, Andrew decides to stay with Sue, while the rest of the group departs in search of help.

As the group navigates the desert, tensions rise. They soon realize they may have been heading in the wrong direction. A confrontation occurs when one survivor, Max, accuses Grun of causing the crash. In a fit of anger, Max leaves the group, seeking a way out on his own.

Back at the wreckage, tragedy strikes again as Sue is killed by lions. In the chaos, Andrew confronts Grun, leading to a flare gun being fired. The group then faces a grim reality as they must find shelter from the approaching danger. They decide to hide in the plane's cockpit, but only three can fit, leading to a tense decision-making process.

As night falls, the group hears gunfire, indicating Max's struggle with the lions. Meanwhile, a series of misfortunes unfold in the cockpit, including an unexpected snake attack. The survivors must contend with both internal and external threats, forcing them to confront what they will do to survive.

The next day, the group attempts to find help but encounters armed Zulus who accuse them of theft. A tragic altercation ensues, leading to further loss. Grun and a wounded Andrew navigate through danger, facing lions and their own limitations as they search for safety.

In a climactic turn, Grun sacrifices himself to save Andrew, who ultimately finds himself alone and exhausted. Just as he loses hope, a lightning strike chases away the predators, and he is rescued by kind villagers.

The film promises to be a gripping tale of survival, ethical dilemmas, and the human spirit's endurance against nature's fury. With its release just around the corner, audiences can look forward to a thrilling experience when Prey hits theaters on 15 March 2024.
