Ruthless

Ruthless is an American action thriller film that debuted on December 15, 2023. Directed by Art Camacho, the movie stars Dermot Mulroney in the lead role, supported by a talented cast that includes Jeff Fahey, Melissa Diaz, Mauricio Mendoza, Tonantzin Esparza, and Niko Foster.

The film tells the story of Harry, a high school wrestling coach who becomes alarmed by the situation of one of his students, a girl named Catia. She is suffering abuse at home, and Harry feels compelled to protect her. As he tries to provide Catia with a safe space, his efforts draw the attention of a dangerous human trafficking group. When Catia is kidnapped, Harry embarks on a perilous journey to rescue her and confront the traffickers. Throughout his quest, he uncovers the disturbing realities of human trafficking, revealing a much larger problem than he initially believed.

The film was written by Javier Reyna, James Dean Simington, and Art Camacho. It was produced by Elias Axume, Al Bravo, and HemDee Kiwanuka, among others. The cinematography was handled by Brandon Ruiz, and the editing was done by Rylan Rafferty. The film's music was composed by Mauricio Yazigi.

Production for Ruthless began in November 2022 in Las Vegas, after news of Mulroney's casting emerged in October of the same year. The film's distribution rights were acquired by Saban Films in June 2023.

After its limited theatrical release, the film was made available on Video on Demand services. Additionally, it premiered on the streaming platform Hulu on April 13, 2024.

As of now, Ruthless holds a rating of 33% on the review aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes, based on six critics' reviews, with an average score of 2.2 out of 10.
