The Bad Guys: Haunted Heist is a fun and spooky animated special that debuted on Netflix on 3 October 2024. This 24-minute Halloween heist comedy is a sequel of sorts to the 2022 film The Bad Guys and follows the same characters that audiences have grown to love.
The story kicks off with the character Wolf sharing a legend about a hidden treasure belonging to the notorious villain, Reginald E. Scary, a shoebill stork. Wolf warns his friends that anyone who tries to steal the treasure will be haunted forever. Despite his history of pranking them on Halloween, his gang decides to follow him to Scary's creepy mansion.
Upon arrival, they encounter several frightening automated traps set by Scary to scare away thieves. In their quest, they discover a valuable amulet and decide to take it. However, Wolf can't resist playing one final prank on his friends, leading to chaotic events back at their hideout.
After taking the amulet, Wolf starts to hear strange music and experiences bizarre dreams that no one else can hear. Convinced that returning the amulet might help him, he persuades the gang to venture back to the mansion. Unfortunately, they end up getting captured. In a twist, it turns out that the rest of the gang had played a prank on Wolf as well. When Wolf takes back the amulet, he disintegrates but reveals he had manipulated the situation all along. This leads to a humorous showdown among the gang.

A novelization of The Bad Guys: Haunted Heist by Kate Howard is set to be released on 6 August 2024, offering fans another way to enjoy this spooky adventure.
The special is produced by DreamWorks Animation Television and directed by Kevin Peaty, with a script by Ben Glass. The music in the series is composed by Brandon Liew, along with Taylor Page and Daniel Futcher.
Fans of the original film will certainly appreciate this new installment filled with laughter, surprises, and just the right amount of spookiness for a Halloween treat!
