Information on Transformers: Age of Extinction

Transformers: Age of Extinction is a 2014 American science fiction action film that continues the popular Transformers franchise. Directed by Michael Bay and written by Ehren Kruger, this movie is the fourth installment in the series and follows the events of Transformers: Dark of the Moon from 2011. The film stars Mark Wahlberg and Stanley Tucci, along with a new cast of characters and many new Transformers, including the Dinobots.

The story begins 65 million years ago when an alien race known as the "Creators" used devices called Seeds to cover Earth with a metallic alloy called Transformium, which supposedly wiped out the dinosaurs. In the present day, a geologist working for K.S.I. Industries excavates this Transformium to create Transformer drones. Following the Battle of Chicago, humans see Transformers as threats and cancel all collaborations with them. A rogue CIA division, Cemetery Wind, seeks to eliminate all Transformers, led by Harold Attinger, a corrupt operative. An assassin named Lockdown is also hunting for Optimus Prime, hoping to capture him in exchange for a Seed.

Optimus, heavily damaged, is found by Cade Yeager, a struggling inventor and single father. Instead of turning him in for a reward, Cade decides to repair him. This decision leads to a confrontation with Cemetery Wind, resulting in Lucas, Cade’s partner, being killed. Optimus, alongside surviving Autobots, fights back against the threat. Eventually, they discover K.S.I.'s plans to create new Transformers, including the villainous Galvatron, who is actually a reincarnation of Megatron.

The film was released in the United States on 27 June 2014 by Paramount Pictures. While it faced harsh criticism from reviewers regarding its pacing, complexity, and dialogue, Transformers: Age of Extinction achieved remarkable commercial success, grossing over $1.1 billion worldwide against a budget of $210 million. It became the highest-grossing film of 2014 and remains one of the top-grossing films of all time.
