Uprising

Uprising is a historical war action film from South Korea set to be released on October 11, 2024, on Netflix. Directed by Kim Sang-man and co-written by Park Chan-wook and Shin Cheol, the film tells a gripping story of conflict and betrayal against the backdrop of the Japanese invasions of Korea.

The film features a talented cast including Gang Dong-won as Cheon Yeong, a skilled swordsman who grapples with his status as a slave. Park Jeong-min plays Lee Jong-ryeo, the son of a high-ranking military official. The cast also includes Kim Shin-rok, Jin Seon-kyu, and Cha Seung-won.

Set during a time of unrest, the film explores the complex relationship between Cheon Yeong and Jong-ryeo, who find themselves on opposing sides. Their childhood friendship turns into rivalry as they clash in battle, representing larger themes of loyalty, power, and the fight for freedom.

Uprising had its world premiere at the 29th Busan International Film Festival on October 2, 2024, opening the festival with much anticipation. Following its festival run, the film will be available for streaming on Netflix starting October 11, 2024.
