Jamie Foxx, born Eric Marlon Bishop on 13 December 1967, is a well-known American actor, comedian, and singer. He first gained fame as a cast member on the sketch comedy show In Living Color from 1991 to 1994. His success on the show led to creating and starring in his own sitcom, The Jamie Foxx Show, which aired from 1996 to 2001.
Foxx's breakthrough in film came when he portrayed legendary musician Ray Charles in the 2004 biographical film Ray. His performance won him the Academy Award for Best Actor. That same year, he was also nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in the movie Collateral.
