Lucy Liu

Lucy Alexis Liu, born on 2 December 1968, is a prominent American actress known for her diverse roles in film and television. Hailing from the Jackson Heights neighborhood in Queens, New York, Liu is the daughter of Chinese immigrants. Her mother, Cecilia, was a biochemist, while her father, Tom Liu, worked as a civil engineer. She has an older brother, John, and an older sister, Jenny. Growing up in a multicultural environment, Liu learned Mandarin at home and began studying English at the age of five.

Liu's educational journey took her through several institutions, including Joseph Pulitzer Middle School and Stuyvesant High School. She later attended New York University before transferring to the University of Michigan, where she studied Asian languages and cultures. Her interest in acting blossomed in college when she auditioned for a production of Alice in Wonderland, landing the lead role despite initially seeking a supporting part.
